OUR RESPONSE TO COVID-19

UPDATED: September 20, 2021

Effective September 22, 2021, the Ontario Government orders non-essential businesses to require proof of vaccination for those 12 years and older to help protect Ontarians from COVID-19 and the Delta variant.

As a facility that prides itself as a place for people of all ages, we are taking all the steps to ensure that we’re doing our part when it comes to protecting our community. Please note that all businesses are required to follow these regulations and are subject to penalties of hefty fines and closures for non-compliance. If you do not agree, we hope that as these regulations pass, you will return to our facility. For now, the distinctions for the proof of vaccination requirements are clear. Please read Reg 364/20 closely to determine how they apply to you.

The proof of vaccination mandate is required for all rock climbing gyms, fitness and recreational facilities across Ontario. All patrons will be required to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with very limited exemptions.

Here's what you need:

  1. COVID-19 vaccination receipt showing 2 doses (+ 14 days) as of September 22nd

  2. Government-issued ID to match against your receipt

I’m a prepaid member and unvaccinated. What happens with my membership?

Unvaccinated prepaid memberships may put their memberships on hold until restrictions ease. Refunds are not availale as these are government mandates outside of our control.

Please check with your location if member guest passes are available for redemption.

How do I show proof of vaccination?

Until the vaccine passport phone application is rolled out, we’ll need two documents from you: 1) A government-issued ID (Driver’s licence, passport, health card, birth certificate, citizenship card, Indigenous membership card, etc. are all accepted) 2) A digital or physical vaccination receipt that indicates that you are fully vaccinated / received two doses of the vaccine.

What are you doing with my vaccination information?

We are not keeping a copy of your vaccination receipt or your government issued ID. We are simply verifying your identity and that you are fully vaccinated. Your personal information, other than your vaccination status and the date of your last dose, is kept on file.

Do I have to show my vaccine receipt and government-issued ID every time I visit your facility?

Only for your first visit after September 22nd. After we’ve verified your vaccination status and noted it in our system, that information will be on file and you do not need to verify it with us again.

I have a medical exemption. Can I still use your facility?

According to the document provided by the Ministry of Health, as long as you provide us with sufficient documents from a physician / nurse that states that you are exempt from receiving the vaccine, you are allowed to use our facility. However, medical exemptions will not be honoured in-person at the front desk. Our staff are simply not in the position to validate these documents. You must email proof of exemption to your Aspire Climbing location at least 48hours before arrival. Otherwise, you will not be allowed to spectate or use the facility.

Why is Aspire requiring proof of vaccination?

Vaccinations are a choice, and we truly respect everyone's decision to choose what's best for their personal health and that of their family. This policy is mandated by the provincial government (Reg 364/20) to allow non-essential businesses to remain open and avoid a 4th lockdown. Otherwise, we face penalties of hefty fines or closures. This is not a choice for us after a year of significant financial losses. We are not making political statements or discriminations. We are trying to recover from this pandemic to continue offering our unique blend of climbing and ninja to our communities.

Memberships

My membership is frozen, what are my options when I return to climb?

All members will be required to book their time-slot online prior to arrival. Payment will not be required online. Upon arrival, you can select the following options;

  • Reinstate your membership to avoid any fees
  • Pay for your session if you are unsure and would like to keep your membership on hold

I have a complimentary membership included with my program registration. Can I come in outside of class times?

Yes. Program participants 18 years and under may practice outside of class times. Reservations are not requied. However, children 13 years and under require active parental supervision. These parents are subject to vaccination policies.

I’m not a member but would like to join. Are memberships available?

Absolutely! We would love to have you as part of our community. View the membership options at the location near you.

Is rental equipement available to rent?

Yes. Climbing shoe and harness rentals are available. Chalk rentals are not available at this time.

Will liquid chalk be mandatory?

Although not clinically proven at this time, liquid chalk contains a high alcohol content that can help to reduce the spread of the virus. In addition, it reduces the amount of airborne particles in the air improving the air quality of the facility. We will be monitoring our traffic levels to determine if this is neccessary. We ask that all visitors be considerate with the use of chalk and avoid accessive use and spread. Chalk bags are not availble for rent at the moment and we ask climbers not to share chalk.

What are the capacity limits at the gym?

All facilities are at 50% capacity which allows almost normal traffic levels. We are large 11,000+ sq/ft facilities which allow adequate 2m distancing for all customer groups.

Do I have to make a reservation or can I just come in?

During the enhanced Stage 3 of the provincial reopening plan, Milton and Whitby locations require bookings for new visitors only. Members and 10 pass holders do not need to make reservations. Our Vaughan location do not require bookings and walk-ins are welcome.
