Fitness Orientation SOP

Welcome to the fitness area! This space is designed to help you build strength, target specific muscle groups, and improve overall fitness. Whether you’re new or experienced, you’re welcome here.

You must be 16 years of age or older to use this space.  (under special consideration to have athletes under 16 to use boards)

Introduction to Fitness


Our goals are to help you:

● Use equipment safely and correctly

● Understand which exercises work which muscles

● Build balanced strength

● Develop good gym habits and etiquette

● During orientation, you’ll get

● A walkthrough of key equipment

● Basic safety guidelines

● Tips on proper form

● Simple ideas for structuring a workout

● If you’re unsure about anything, please ask a staff member.



Etiquette


Help keep the space safe and welcoming for everyone:

● Respect the space and people around you

● Wipe down equipment after use

● Use towels on benches and mats

● Only water allowed on the mats

●  Re-rack all weights when finished

● Share equipment and take turns when it’s busy

● Report any broken or unsafe equipment

● Wear running/athletic shoes (no climbing shoes, no bare feet)



Safety


● Warm up before lifting heavier weights

● Choose weights you can control with good form

● Don’t drop weights or use jerky movements

● Stop if you feel pain, dizziness, or shortness of breath and inform staff

● Ask for help or a spotter when needed
