Experienced Route Setter

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Aspire Climbing is a dynamic, multi-faceted climbing gym. Focused on development, we value outgoing, friendly, confident and capable people with attention to detail and initiative. This position is a unique part-time opportunity for an experienced route setter. Applicants must possess a solid foundation of climbing and route setting skills for a well-rounded steward of customer development.
As a route setter, you can choreograph movement on the wall through the strategic placement and positioning of climbing holds. You are creative in your approach, striking a balance between form and function to create inspiring climbs that look and climb awesome. You are unselfish and critical, eager to contribute to our setting goals of our Five Star Factory. You are proficient with time management and safety practices with working at heights.

THE NUTS AND BOLTS OF SETTING:

Contribute to bouldering and route setting tasks

Ensure that climbs are graded, taped, holds are set-screwed, and all tools are put away

During the setting process, ensuring proper safety protocols are being followed as per the Aspire standards

Produce High-Quality Product

Route setters must be qualified to set at the appropriate level of difficulty and ensuring every move on every climb is complete.

Always deferring to our Five Star standard guidelines ensuring climbs set are fun, challenging and safe, while incorporating creative elements of aesthetics and composition

Inventory Control

Manage an inventory of hardware and supplies

Communicating with Head Route Setter and management if supplies are needed that pertain to route setting and wall maintenance

Creatively Critical

Listen to feedback from multiple sources in a positive manner and defer to the judgment of the Head Route Setter and General Manager to expand one’s practices

Progressive Learning

Keeping up to speed on the latest route setting trends and participating in the evolution of the craft

On the vanguard of news idea to expand one’s repertoire of movements

QUALIFICATIONS
Skilled climber and route setter with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a commercial climbing facility

You possess advanced technical climbing skills with the ability to climb and set V5/5.11-

You are a well-rounded setter possessing both bouldering and route setting capabilities
-
You are comfortable working at heights with ladders and/or ropes
-
You are creative and inventive to produce climbs that look and climb awesome

You are detail-oriented with excellent time management skills independently and within team efforts

You are available during weekdays, 2-3 setting shifts per week
PAY LEVEL
Experienced Route setters may earn between $16-$25 based on skills, quality of work and efficiency.
