THE ROLE

Shift supervisors are team leaders that stand-in for our management team to perform opening or closing operations. Shift supervisors are mature, experienced staff that have cut their teeth in previous positions with the organization and have demonstrated the ability to take on additional responsibilities. For opening, Shift Supervisors ensure the facility is ready for business and prepared to take on the daily traffic and bookings. For closing, Shift Supervisors perform POS closeouts, delegate and participate in cleaning tasks and preparing the facility for a successful new day up. Shift leaders are entrusted keyholders and possess the management in the making qualities. Shift supervisors, like many other employees wear several hats with secondary and tertiary roles. Some are coaches, route setters and/or instructors. They share our customer-first approach to business and set a positive example for junior staff. Shift supervisors possess maturity and strong communication skills. They are problem solvers working within the scope of their roles and leveling up to management if the situation calls for higher decision making. We value punctuality, reliability, attention to detail, initiative and leadership by example. Applicants should enjoy climbing in any form and must enjoy working in a family-friendly environment. 2+ years working in a customer service and hospitality environment. Climbing experience, knowledge and technical expertise are assets.



YOUR OPPORTUNITY


We are a matrix organization with all team members wearing several hats. You will be under the guidance of the General Manager and Operations Manager. The Shift Supervisor will:

  • Provide best-in-class customer service and hospitality for guests

  • Have excellent leadership skills to set the benchmark of performance for junior staff members

  • Possess time management skills to delegate tasks and share in operational responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, organized and efficient workplace for guest and staff

  • Be a keyholder and be responsible for opening and/or closing the facility and the operational duties that follow

  • Be responsible for notifying the management team of accident reports, customer complaints and feedback in a constructive manner to improve customer experience of all guests

  • Participate in staff onboarding, training and possibility interviews of new candidates

  • Be highly knowledgeable professional with communicating company policies, procedures, pricing and offerings

  • Mentor junior staff and set a positive example in performance to strive for

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills for with accurate information through in-person, phone and email

  • Be an expert at our website navigation to guide customers to a self-serve experience with online bookings

  • Be confident, assertive and encouraging working our broad range of customer groups

  • Protect our customers and staff by enforcing company rules and safety guidelines

  • Communicate clearly and professionally when providing facility tours and safety orientations

  • Be knowledgeable and efficient with Rock Gym Pro, our customer management/booking/POS system

  • Maintain a clean, organized and efficient facility by participating in regular cleaning duties

  • Actively selling passes, memberships, bookings and offerings to match the needs of the customer

  • Participate in staff meetings, training and product knowledge sessions to further skills and team building

  • Be a team player and prioritize the company vision over self-promotion

  • Be your best self with a willingness to learn and improve through an open mindset


TEAM FIT


Applicants must have a strong work ethic, must be efficient and able to work on a reliable schedule. Applicants should have a positive attitude, be quick problem solvers, and must work well with others. Shift supervisors should excel in a team environment with the maturity to be self-managed to complete tasks as needed for team success. Climbing and ninja experience is not required but a great asset to this position. Applicants must be willing to learn and further develop and improve customer service and overall climbing skills. YOUR WORK HOURS


Regular full-time or part-time hours may be available. Consistent availability is preferred for this role with an average of 24-32hrs per week.



YOUR REWARD


$16 - $20/hr. Advancement is based on experience and achieving performance milestones. FREE access to the facility during business hours for climbing and ninja. A monthly guest pass to be used for friends and family. Discounts and pro deals on climbing gear from the best suppliers in the industry.



ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS


Applicants must be minimum employment age in Ontario. Staff must be able to perform manual labour, which may include working at height. Vulnerable sector check required for individuals 18 years and older.
