Training Board Orientation SOP

Who Are The For

Training boards are positioned as high performance training walls intended for climbers. They articulate between -10° to 60° overhang. They use a universal pattern of holds that integrate with apps that allow climbers to connect and share climbs all over the world. The benefit to the articulating angle, is they offer the ability to practice specific climbs and grades, and with the adjustability of the angle, scale a grade down to learn the movements as needed.

Climbers must be 16 + (under special consideration to have athletes under 16 to use the boards — e.g. Team Aspire).

How It Works

We have 3 different boards:

  • Tension 2

  • Kilter

  • Impact Level

All these boards are articulating which means the angles change from 0° to 60° on the Kilter and Tension and -10° to 60° on the Level Board.

Kilter and Tension Boards

  • These boards require apps (kilter board app and the Tension 2 board app)

  • These app are almost identical to each other in how they work

  • When you are on the app go to boards and find Aspire Climbing Milton

  • Once there you'll see a plethora of climbs to try

  • Once you have clicked on a climb you want hit the lightbulb and locate the tension board (you will need Bluetooth on)

Impact Level Board

Like the bouldering area this wall has fun comp style climbs to try. They may even have a twist with the climb. This wall may also be an articulating spray wall as well. There are multiple holds on the wall with no color coordination the climber finds moves or create a climb.

Falling

This is the same as the boulder orientation. Drop, Tuck and Roll (See Bouldering SOP)

Etiqutte

Please;

  • Stay off the mats unless you’re climbing. Keep mats clear for others to climb

  • Climbing shoes must be worn

  • Do not walk underneath a climber

  • Ask before you change the climb

  • Take turns. Allow others a chance if you fall off your problem

  • Ask everyone who is on the board if you are fine to change it

  • Keep chalk bags, brushes and personal effects off the mats. Keep mats clear as every part is a fall zone. Also, premature compression of foam leads to faster deterioration which affects safe landings

  • No bare feet

  1. Explain “How it Works”

  2. Demonstrate how to use the app if it is there first time on the app

  3. Remind the Etiquette rules
